Follow-up Survey Shows How COVID-19 Continues to Impact Wisconsin Nonprofits

Wisconsin’s nonprofit sector has stepped up to meet increased needs for support in the wake of COVID-19 and have found creative ways to safely pursue their missions. But nonprofit organizations have also faced significant challenges. To understand more about the impacts of COVID-19 on the nonprofit sector, the Helen Bader Institute for Nonprofit Management at UW-Milwaukee (HBI), the Institute for Nonprofit Management Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and affiliate faculty throughout the UW System issued two surveys to nonprofits around Wisconsin. The CommNS contributed to the research and provided design services for publication.

The second report from this effort is now available, which includes findings from the first and second surveys. It includes perspectives from nonprofit professionals on how their organizations have been impacted by COVID-19 and how they have worked to adapt.  The report highlights key takeaways on:

  • Program & service delivery
  • Human resources, including staffing and payroll
  • Finance & revenue, including access to stimulus funding
