The CommNS Knowledge website has been undergoing some big changes over the past few months. The site is now the official online home of the Center for Community and Nonprofit Studies (the CommNS), a Center of Excellence at the UW-Madison School of Human Ecology.
This means all of the info on the CommNS, all in one place. Get to know more about our Mission and Vision, our People, and the academic programs and certificates we support. The updated CommNS at a Glance graphic below shows how the CommNS connects to UW-Madison and the community, to advance inquiry and action for social change.
We have also added new pages highlighting the work being done across the CommNS and in affiliated initiatives:
- Co-Create partners with community groups, nonprofits, and researchers to address the pressing questions facing communities around Wisconsin and the world. Learn more on the Co-Create page, including how you can partner with us.
- The P.O.W.E.R. Collective is a collective space for research, political, and community action programs, as well as professional development for and by communities of color. P.O.W.E.R. is housed in the Civil Society and Community Research (CSCR) department and supported by the CommNS. Learn more about their work on the P.O.W.E.R. page.
- Civic Health of Wisconsin is initiative to strengthen the civic engagement and connectedness of communities around Wisconsin. The CommNS is part of the coalition of groups and organizations contributing to this effort. Learn more about the initiative on the Civic Health of Wisconsin page.
And of course, as before, you can download reports and briefs and stay up to date with CommNS through our news and events page. You can also connect with the CommNS on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
