Join the UW-Madison Center for Community and Nonprofit Studies for this webinar on key considerations for whether and how to form a nonprofit organization, presented in partnership with the UW Law School Law and Entrepreneurship Clinic and Marquette Law School’s M-LINC (Clinic for Nonprofits). We know from our many community partners that as great ideas and meaningful efforts develop, there often comes a crossroads when organizers wonder if it’s time to form a formal nonprofit organization, whether that’s the right entity choice, and what the implications are. Our expert panel will distill some key considerations about the opportunities and limitations associated with forming a stand-alone nonprofit organization, explore alternative options such as fiscal sponsorship and mission-based business models, and provide information on what steps are required if the decision is made to take the plunge to form a nonprofit, and remain compliant!
The panel includes Tami Patel, Supervising Attorney at the Law and Entrepreneurship Clinic at UW-Madison; Kathryn Mertz, Director of Pro Bono and Public Service at Marquette University Law School; and Mary Beth Collins, Executive Director of the CommNS at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
